Discovering the Italian National Park of Circeo
Spring is here! It’s time to go out and discover our beautiful natural surroundings with our friends, the National Forest Rangers.
The National Park of Circeo lays in Lazio; it’s a land rich of nature , culture and history. It includes a promontory , an island , over 20 kilometers of dunes overlooking the sea , four coastal lakes , wetlands , over 3,000 hectares of lowland forest, hundreds of species of animals and plants. Here man lives since prehistoric times and has managed to maintain a balance between its presence and the surrounding environment .
Before Spring Forest Rangers came in our school to give children lots of information about the soil and plants of the Park using five senses : we watched, touched, smell and sowed.
On April 9th we spend a day out visiting the lake of Fogliano and the natural museum of Sabaudia.
The Borgo and Lake of Fogliano consists of a complex of historical buildings, built in the late eighteenth century . It was long a possession of the Caetani family who provided also staging the botanical garden , where numerous species of plants were gathered from various parts of the world . Inside it was realized one path that people can visit only by booking; there is also a large green area, an environmental education workshop about wetlands and an ornithological museum.
The museum shows, though light displays, aquariums, terrariums the main features of the environments of Circeo National Park.
TOUCH! SMELL! WATCH!
AND……..HEAR!

THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF AUTISM
April the 2nd is the day dedicated to those special old and young people who see the world through an other window but who have our same feelings, hopes and fears.
This year “Lelia Caetani” Institute of Sermoneta has celebrated it with some activites in order to leave a track and remember to include autistic persons in our everyday life.
We decorated schools with blue, the colour of autism.
In the primary school of Sermoneta Scalo we recited a poem, flew blue balloons and watched movies about this different condition.
